All week I've been writing a very tedious lengthy post all about Rough Trade Shops: Indie Pop Vol 1 which I shall inflict on you soon. For now a small footnote about this lot who sadly didn't make the cut. This glorious but somehow lovelier 1996 Mary Chain rip off Inside" (MP3)
should've slipped in there for virtue of the fact that the 7" came in a pink and white bag. (which I still have in a box on top of the wardrobe). They later turned up on Sarah, released a couple of albums but mostly i just remember seeing Rob (usually with Sean in tow) doing endless laps through the North Laine in Brighton. Smiling.
So yep I last saw lead singer Rob Sekula DJing at the v.fine Tapestry Club (i was there for the Magic Numbers.. fuck they're good) and we had a brief chat about Big Brother 5 and Iris Dement. He'd just played "Let the Mystery Be". It made me sigh inside. I loved the 14 Iced Bears.
Glad to see you back from a summer of perpetual childcare. Just in time to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the innernet or something.
